Mary Elizabeth ‘Emi’ Rose
Dear Mary Elizabeth ‘Emi’ Rose—-
We waited on your arrival as long as we waited on your Momma and Daddy to name you—it had gotten to the point of hoping you would have a name by the time you start school. Young People like your Parents don’t react as quick as us old folks do. We would have named you 25 times by now. We had to hang the name of ‘Quatro’ on you for a time before you arrived---you are our 4thgrandchild, you see. But they announced that wonderful name and like you, it was perfect in every way.
It is a beautiful name, but don’t plan on me using it. I will call you something different because I’m crazy that way---3 kids and now 4 grandkids and I have NEVER called any of them
by their name unless I had too.
But a little more
on this name thing, bear with me—
As your Paternal Grandfather , I must insist that you call me George-just cause. I cant abide by Paw Paw, Pee Paw, Peepad, Doo-wop, Doodah, G-Daddy or any of the other Grandparent names. ‘George’ works for both the kids and grandkids, so it’ll be easy to adapt.
Heres a quick rundown on some of your family:
Momma- you know her already, but we all think shes Top Shelf. We adore her!
Daddy- JoeFish was a little nervous these last few months. You couldn’t drive a 10 penny nail up his butt with a ball peen hammer. Be patient with him, and if you need to throw up, make sure it is on him. I saw the smile on his face right after you got here and he is smitten (full disclosure-The last time we saw that look was when he started keeping company with your Momma).
You have him under your spell, so use that power accordingly.
Aunt Amanda and Aunt Lyndsay-Girlly, I cant put these two into words, youre just going to have to learn the hard way. They will help you bury the bodies, should the need ever arise. You’ll see.
Then there are your cousins; Lulu, Rex, and Georgia—it is proper to refer to them also as Aunt or Uncle because they are older than you. There are a boatload of other ‘cousins’ that you will become acquainted with in time. They are loud and noisy, but they are good folks, and its always a good time whenever theyre around.
Then there’s Gramms (Sue)-She is the rock of our family and Chief of all of us here in Arkam Asylyum; as you take over the world just know she will clear the path. She is a force of nature like no other.
Now, about the Fuscos---your Mommas folks:
They are, every last one of them, ate up with good looks. In fact, it appears they may have cornered the market in that department. No doubt that’s where yours come from.
They are from New York, and Italian. That is a spectacular combination! I realize they aren’t Southerners, but they got here as fast as they could. In some circles that would make them ‘Damn’ Yankees, but if you ask me we need more like them everywhere! They are AWESOME in every way, as you will soon find out.
Your ancestry makeup is 50% Italian from your Momma, and the other 50% from Daddy is comprised as follows: 1/8 Spanish, 1/8 Irish, 6/8 Heinz 57. Coincidentally, the Heinz 57 portion are my people. They go back to the Revolutionary War at Valley Forge to the Civil War, and eventually some mobile home communities in South Georgia. Ahem.
Lastly, I tend to use a lot of adjectives, particularly when im watching a baseball game. I promise to either cut back on them or teach them to you, whichever you prefer.
But enough of my rambling for now. We are over the moon that you are here. Thanks for becoming part of the family. Strap yourself in, sweet girl. You’re in for a ride!
Love,
George
